Title: At Her Fingertips Series: The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy, Book #3 Genres: Historical Fiction, Historical Romance, Women’s Fiction Era: Late Victorian (1880) Release Date: July 17th, 2021 About the Book || She’s willing to do anything to follow her plan. Debutante Alice Knight is ready for her first social season in London. She’s determined to impress society and her mother with an affluent match, at last escaping her past and embracing a future of her own making. Peter Strauss, an American reporter visiting England, isn’t exactly what Alice had in mind. However, his friendship proves invaluable as Alice faces the challenges of her debut. Almost immediately, she attracts the attention of a well-born gentleman—perfect save for the simple fact that he’s not a Christian. The life she longs for is finally at her fingertips, but between her own heart and the convictions of her faith, she isn’t sure she ought to grasp it. About the Author || Kellyn Roth is a Christian historical women’s fiction & romance author from North-Eastern Oregon who has independently published multiple novels, the most notable being The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy series. You should definitely call her Kell. Kell lives on family-owned property outside an unmemorable but historical town with her parents, two little brothers, arbitrary cat, precious border collies, a dozen cows, and lots of chickens. She also possesses a classic, vintage aesthetic which does not at all speak to her country girl side, but such is life. When not writing, Kell likes to blog, teach writing to her various students, have day jobs which allow her to keep her car properly insured, and spend lavish amounts of money on Dairy Queen french fries. She also likes to talk about Keira Knightley and her own books way too much. Learn More About Ms. Roth! Happy February, and welcome to our 9th missions’ spotlight! I admit I knew nothing about French Guiana until I wrote this post! I hope you enjoy our little trip to this South American nation! So, without further ado, let’s take off! Country: Départment de la Guyane (French Guiana is owned by France and is a member of the European Union)
Continent: South America Population: 290,691 (2020) Capital: Cayenne Largest City: Cayenne (61,550) Motto: Work Creates Abundance National Anthem: La Marseillaise Current Leader: Rodolphe Alexandre Language: Guianese Creole French Bordering Countries: Brazil and Suriname Religions: 74.3% Catholic; 9.9% Protestant (including Baptist 😉); 3.4% Christian syncretic; 2.9% Chinese folk religion; 6% Other; 3.4% No Religion. At least 87% of the population is involved in false religion, and probably more have never heard a clear Gospel presentation from the Bible. Animals of Interest: Collared Peccaries (swine), Squirrel Monkeys, Harpy Eagles, Agouti (rodent), White-Faced Saki (monkey), South American Tapir (swine-like), Red-Handed Tamarin (?), Greater Long-Nosed Armadillo, just to name a few! Famous Foods: Bouillon D’Aoura (smoked fish, crab, prawns, vegetables and chicken, with aoura, a savanna tree fruit); Forrest game with red beans and rice; Couac (grated and dried yucca); Blaff (Spicy fish chowder); Roti (oil fried bread used for dipping); and Doku (a creamy corn dessert with cinnamon and brown sugar). Fun Facts: Cayenne pepper (a favorite in my family, especially in the winter!) is named after the capitol of FG! Guiana means “land of many waters”! Since they are members of the EU, FG uses Euros instead of their own national currency. Missionaries: (Subject to Additions!) Prayer Requests: Pray that the light of the Gospel will reach this nation. I’m not sure if FBN is heard in this country, so please pray that God will bless the broadcast and that the Falkland people will hear the Gospel. And above all, pray for laborers to go and serve! Don’t forget to check your list of missionaries at your church for Missionaries to French Guiana! Encourage your family to pray for them and perhaps send them a note of encouragement! Have a blessed week! Ryana Lynn Jude 22 And here we are in the second month of 2021! It’s surprising how quickly time passes! Today, I am excited to continue our series on rejoicing! And since it’s February, why not go ahead and tackle the Elephant in the room: Love! Don’t worry, it won’t be mushy 😉 Rejoicing in Love God’s gift of Love is one of His greatest gifts to mankind! Today, I thought it would be nice to look at some of the different kinds of Love God has given to us! The Love of Brothers and Sisters in Christ || John 15:12 – This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Yesterday was an excellent example of the love of our brothers and sisters in Christ! We got snow yesterday (still coming down!). Because of the terrain around our house, Jacob and I had to leave following our church’s fellowship meal (we were supposed to attend the service immediately following the meal but instead had to live stream). As soon as he found out, one of our church members insisted that I text his wife as soon as we got home to make sure we were okay. And he reminded me that if we had any trouble getting home, help was just a text or phone call away. “That’s what a church family is here for, to take care of our brothers and sisters.” That simple gesture meant so much to my husband and me! And this is the attitude all Christian siblings should have for each other! Praise the Lord for the Love of the family of God! The Love of Family || 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 – Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. I grew up in a large family (Seven kids, plus mom and dad 😉), and I can say from experience there is nothing like a family full of people who love you! Did we always get along perfectly? Maybe not, but there was never a question whether I was loved or not! But I can honestly say that disagreements were not the norm, praise the Lord! The Love of family is something we should thank God for daily! The Love of Husband and Wife || Genesis 2:23 – And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. God has a perfect plan for mankind, and marriage is part of it! The love He places in the hearts of a man and woman, joining them in holy matrimony, is a beautiful gift from God! One that I feel honored and privileged that He has allowed me to experience loving my husband! In truth, I knew I loved Jacob before I ever met him! God had already prepared my heart to love him, and when we did at last meet, well, it didn’t take long for me to know this was the one for whom God had prepared my heart! The Love of God || John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
I think we can all agree that the Greatest Love of all is the Love of God! His gift of His only Son is the ultimate gift of Love and Sacrifice the world has ever seen! Where would we be without Salvation through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, making a way for us to be part of the Family of God? Take a moment and rejoice in the gifts of Love that God has given us! What is something you are rejoicing in today? Have a blessed day, and God Bless America! Ryana Lynn Jude 22 |
