Well, today is the final day of FFF! I hope you had fun! I know I did. I must say, I wasn’t going to post today, but then I decided I couldn’t not post, so here we are! I have some lovely reads to share, all of which are new to me! Let’s hop to it! Mammoth Words fail me to describe just how much I love this book. It has mystery, adventure, found family, breaking from toxic relationships even when it hurts, mammoth bones, a lighthouse, a moody tone, the boathouse, I mean, I could go on, but please please please read this book! Goodreads Link Amazon Link Shadow I love Peter Pan. Always have, always will. Shadow redeemed Dust for me, but y’all, this series broke me. I never wanted to grow up and in some ways, it’s hard for me to. It’s hard to adjust my brain with that mental shift. This book was a good reminder that it’s okay to cherish your childhood, but your actions have repercussions and they don’t just effect you. Goodreads Link Amazon Link Pride and Prejudice This book had me rolling! I love old lit and this didn’t disappoint in flair, flavor and wit! I love the social satire and wonder what Jane Austen would think of her country now but I digress (She would be livid, just saying). Goodreads Link Amazon Link Beyond Her Calling This. Book. I adore this book so much. It made me feel…heard? Seen? Understood? Idk, it was good, you are not allowed to hate it just read it and thank me later okay? Goodreads Link Amazon Link Defy I still haven’t finished this series because this book ripped my heart out. I need help y’all, it was rough but so so good… I love stories where Christians stand up and fight for what’s right because I am seeing ways to much passive “Christianity” these days. Yes, Jesus was Gentle, but He also turned over tables and is coming back as our Warrior King! So we shouldn’t be ashamed of doing battle at His behest! Next to last day of this swell party! I’ve had so much fun! I hope you have! Ahh, yes. My favorite genre! I have 5 excellent recommendations for you today and I can’t wait to share them with you! So without further ado, let’s hit the road! The Auschwitz Escape Wow. This book knocked my socks off. I laughed (not much), I cried (a lot) and thanked God my ancestors moved out of Germany in the 1700s so we fought with the allies against these horrific atrocities… A well written story about bravery, perseverance, and the disgustingness of politics. Never. Again. I stand with Israel. Goodreads Link Amazon Link Not Without Courage Now there is some content that is best suited for adults. I’ll just leave it at that. Nothing on screen. But! This is one of my favorite books about Gettysburg and I cant wait to reread the entire series all over again! Selena is an excellent character and I love Jeremy. I just do. He’s a widdle boy what needs taken care of…okay, he’s a grown man but I’ve adopted him as my child so there *halo* Goodreads Link Amazon Link A Line in the Sand Anyone else love a good Dear America book? I read this book around the same time I watched Davy Crockett for the first time and let me tell you, I cried. It inspired a whole new story in the lives of the Mason family and Silas may or may not have seen some of the aftermath of the Alamo… Anyway! This was a great book and it’s on display on my shelf, ready for a reread. It’s been 10 years! Goodreads Link Amazon Link Across Five Aprils Oh man, it’s been years since I read this book, but y’all, it’s so good! It covers life in southern Illinois, with split loyalties and just everyday life during the War Between the States. Do I agree with their slavery propaganda? No. No I still adore this book? Absolutely. Goodreads Link Amazon Link Shadows at Crag Cottage This is a newer favorite and I am impatiently waiting for the second installment! Victoria Minks is one of my auto-buy authors and y’all, if you want an old-fashioned read for the modern reader, this is it! I think this is set in the Regency period and it’s so lovely and quaint and gah! I love it so much! Goodreads Link Amazon Link What are your top Historical Fiction reads? “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers…” –Anne Shirley Ryana Lynn Jude 22 Hey y’all! Time for Day 3 of FFF! Are you as excited as I am? Mystery’s were my life when I was younger! So you can imagine my excitement over this particular topic! I have some great picks for y’all today, so let’s jump right in! The Sign of the Four I love Sherlock Holmes. This book is probably one of my very favorites! Okay, I’ve only read two, but this one blew my mind! I’ve heard The Hound of the Baskerville is better, so I have high expectations, lol! Goodreads Link Amazon Link Patchwork Mystery Series This series…It’s probably my favorite mystery series ever! I hope to reread it before too long and review each book here on the blog (as soon as I collect the rest of them)! It’s about a sweet grandmother who quilts and solves mysteries in her small Massachusetts town! Feels more southern and they depict southerners wrong, but it’s only one of the books, so I’ll forgive them 😊 Goodreads Link Amazon Link The Homelanders Series Warning: do not read these at night like I did! They are intense, well written and terrifyingly realistic! This is another series I will be rereading soon and reviewing! I love a good political mystery and these are so good! What if you woke up one morning…and all you remembered was a normal life? But you wake up strapped to a chair with people getting ready to murder you? Yeah, intense. Goodreads Link Amazon Link The Mystery at Lilac Inn (1960s Edition) This book was so good! The Inn, the wedding prep, the smugglers…it was a wild and mesmerizing read! Of all the books I’ve read in the Nancy Drew series, this was probably one of my favorites! Goodreads Link Amazon Link The House on the Cliffs (1950's Version) I’ve only read two of the Hardy Boy books so far, but I loved this one! Every time I thought I had it figured out there was another twist! Is it the most brilliant writing? No, they are for children, but they are well written for children! And I love it! “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers…” –Anne Shirley Ryana Lynn Jude 22 Welcome back to FFF! Per usual, make sure to check out Kate’s blog for more posts and a free book! Today, I’m doing a replacement topic, Indie instead of Fantasy, cause that’s one genre I haven’t read much of. So today, I present you with 5 Indie books you should read! I’m excited to hear your thoughts! Preacher on the Run I’m a Baptist from North Carolina so this book was awesome for me! It covers the history of the Regulators and their influence on the American War for Independence! (Note: there are a few instances where southern phrases are over explained, but it’s okay 😉) The characters are intriguing and the historical content focuses on little known events, which y’all know I love! Definitely worth the read! Goodreads Link Amazon Link Untitled This is the alternate book of the month for my Indie author book club! This book highlights the effects of PTSD, a Christian response to sodomy (Dealt with very gently and very well!) and life as a WWII medic. It’s got a special place in my heart and I was honored to be a Beta-reader for it! Goodreads Link Amazon Link The Accidental Cases of Emily Abbott--Five Star Spy Okay so I love this entire series, but I wanted to highlight The Five Star Spy, book 7 in the series! It’s by far my favorite! Pretty outfits, deep under cover, coffee, Bret with a mustache, does it get better than this?? Please, do yourself a favor and binge this series! Goodreads Link Amazon Link Once I Knew This is a beautiful return to writing by Victoria Lynn! I loved it so much and I can’t wait for book two! It’s a beautiful non-magical fantasy (yes, fantasy, but I didn’t have enough for a full post 😊) is chock full of spiritual warfare and light versus darkness. And Light wins! Goodreads Link Amazon Link The Unexpected Request This is such a fun western! I love me a good western and combine that with Rebekah Morris books and you get a winner! I listened to this one on audio and now I have my own copy and can’t wait to reread it! So, yeah, this is probably one of my top favorite novels by her! What are your favorite Indie books? Ryana Lynn Jude 22 Hello and happy October, Y’all! I am so excited to be participating in FFF again this year (sorry this post is tardy, life happens…)! This year, Kate from One Upon an Ordinary is hosting the event, so before you click out of this post, be sure and visit her for a list of all the bookish posts you need to hit up today! I love books. Books are a huge part of my life and have taught me so much. So, I am excited to introduce you to myself through the books I love! Let’s dive in! Stop the Rain I love the military. If you know me for any length of time, then you know I am passionate about our country and everyone who serves Her. I’m an Army girl to the core, and I have a passion for helping people understand them and bridging the gap between military and civilians. I dream of a day when we are like those in WWII, when it was everyone’s war, not just the soldiers. I am also passionate about getting the word out about PTSD and helping others understand it’s not a Hollywood shock factor; it is too many people’s reality. If I could give you one book that covers all the bases and will open your eyes to the world of military members, it is Stop the Rain by Kassie Angle. If you have never read it, what are you waiting for? Goodreads Link Amazon Link Iron Scouts of the Confederacy Another thing about me that lots of people know is that I am passionate about my Southern Heritage and the War Between the States. The South was right and I will never back down from that. It is a hill I will die on. We are not a nation of racist, white-supremacists. We are a nation of high moral standards, loyalty to the Constitution, old-fashioned values and honor. If that bothers you, this may not be the blog for you, cause I talk about it a lot and that’s not changing any time soon. That being said, I totally understand not everyone will agree with me and that’s okay! I love answering questions and I can totally agree to disagree, so if you can extend the same grace, welcome! I love Iron Scouts because it’s a true story that reads like a novel, highlighting the glories, struggles and heartaches that befell our Southern soldiers. Nothing to hide, nothing to be ashamed of, just honest, down-to-earth, hilarious and heart-wrenching stories of two brothers who loved their country. Goodreads Link Amazon Link Manhunt If you know me very well, you know I have a morbid obsession with the Lincoln Assassination. I will clarify, I do not believe it was right that John Wilkes Booth killed Lincoln, even though his death only saddens me because I have no reason to believe he was saved. But that’s another tale for another time. All it did was make an evil man a martyr, such as Martin Luther King Jr. and John F. Kennedy. I have read Manhunt probably five or six times and it’s the only non-fiction that read at least once every other year. It’s that good. It’s a deep dive into the history of the assassination, the hunt for John Wilkes Booth and the opening days of the decline of our nations into the ruin you see today. Meet people you had no idea were involved and learn about the part they played in on of the most tragic events in the history of our nation. (Notice: I said one of the most tragic not THE most tragic. 9/11, the Holocaust and Roe V. Wade are far more tragic.) Goodreads Link Amazon Link To Save a Life Pro-Life activism is very important to me. It should be to every Christian, jointly with sharing the Gospel. For to share the Gospel, you must have a living person to talk to. Words cannot describe how I felt when I learned Roe V. Wade had been overthrown in our land and multiple states jumped to ban the practice of murdering infants in their jurisdictions! I cried tears of joy and hugged my baby, thanking God for the men and women who made it possible. Then later that day, I celebrated the birth of my niece on this historic day. What a perfect way to celebrate! I wrote To Save a Life to share my passion for the unborn, and out of that was born the Natty’s Warriors Series, covering multiple aspects of our movement. The book will be released in the near future, I am hoping sometime in December. We will see. Until then, please add it on Goodreads and help spread the word! Goodreads Link The Dawn of a Life I am a Christian. That is the most important thing about me. I am a wife, a mother and a homemaker. God has given me this calling and I am grateful for it. I love old-fashioned things and I love a cozy ambiance and aesthetic. I’m more comfortable talking politics of the 1800’s and learning how to make bread. I love the old hymns and the slower pace. I love physical books in my hands and old movies. The Dawn of a Life is my go to comfort read. It takes me back in time. It’s a “Lifestyle” book, not an epic plot until you’ve read the whole series. It’s a slow, comforting book about life. And that’s a worthy read in my opinion. Goodreads Link Amazon Link What are five books that make you you? Share them in the comments below!
